The Beglik Reserve is located in the central part of the Rhodope Mountains. This name is associated with the time of the Ottoman rule. It is the place where shepherds brought their flocks to be counted and taxed by the state. Beglik is a reserve of national significance. It is covered by coniferous forests older than 130 years. Some of the trees are older than 180 years and reach 35 m in height. The reserve is situated at an altitude of 1600-1900 meters.

The area abounds in picturesque bays, surrounded by thick forests and green pastures and has an amazing biodiversity. There are representatives of large mammals (bears, deer, foxes, wolves, wild boars), small mammals (rabbits, hedgehogs, squirrels) and numerous wild ducks and geese. The main representative of the bird world here is capercaillie.
